the coal industry will not be eliminated, however, it is true that coal kills. It kills the men and women that work the mines, it kills the environment all around it, it destroys the water near it, the lungs of the folks who live near where it burns. I have see the cars blistered from the acid rain of coal, so before we get all romantic over coal, take it from the granddaughter of a coal cracker who died of black lung, it is not the life we wish upon anyone, so if new technologies can avoid the use of coal, let's go for it.

Obama's actual statement.

Quote:
"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted," Obama said in January, referring to traditional coal plants.
I give up even trying with you people anymore. Obama and McCain support the same cap and trade policies that Al Gore wants. And yet, you sit here and say that Obama wants to bankrupt the coal industry while allowing "your" candidate a free ride. They're both pushing the same policy.

My thing is that they are basically insulting the intelligence of Pennsylvanians who are intimately aware of the pros and cons of coal, understand their own industry and know what the candidates stand for because they would not have waited for Gov Palin and John McCain to tell them. It is a sad, sad situation when these two think they can hoodwink men and women who fight mountains for a living!!!!

How about a source where he ever expressed an interest in eliminating the coal industry?

I think paperhouse just torpedoed that lie you were trying to pass off.
Does your contempt for Obamma drag you so low as to label yourself as a liar.
If so that's really sad, but my compassionate nature leads me to say, you were just mistaken.

People shouldn't be working in coal mines anyway. It's dangerous down there.

They should all be going through MacDonald's Hamburger University instead on an Obama administration education grant.

Poll: Do you agree with John McCain that all Grandmas should get free botox?

No, I don't agree with McCain.

Yes, I agree with McCain.

Polls lie. McCain never said it. Neither did Obama.

Gee, I thought Hamburger U was part of the program to find jobs the current lame ducks would be capable of.

Yes lets throw all the subsidies out, therefore wind and solar will be competing on an even playing field and never make it out of the gate.

Every energy producer in this country receives some form of subsidy which benefits the end consumer. The tax generated by coal is enormous.

Come on now? You think it was edited? You posted the link to the original yourself. Explain how you think his words were taken out of context..

It is NOT the same. Obama's plan calls for auctioning off the credits which is going to create an immediate expense for the energy companies therefore an immediate expense for the consumer. McCains plan calls for allotment of the credits with the auctioing being phased in over time. Obviously that wis going to cause the least amount of expense for everyone.
