I'm not the one who is bringing this up the day before the election, even though Obama's statements have been out for over a year.

And it's not to "upgrade" their facilities, it's to build new traditional coal powered plants. In fact, you can get grants from the Feds now to build sequestration systems that would make you virtually free and clear of needing offsets. They're looking at building one near us right now:

http://www.mlive.com/grpress/news/index.ssf/2008/08/holland_bpw_next_coal_power_pl.html (broken link)

But let's face it. Most of you guys don't want an honest debate on greenhouse gas emissions and alternative energy. This is just a last minute attempt to claim that Obama will kill a bunch of jobs.

Let's meet back up on Thursday and have a real debate about it.

This is the latest BS from the right, the outrage timed perfectly to announce the day before the election and not give people time to research it and get the facts.

Your article is not exactly from a reputable, objective source. This is from their "about us" page:

"Your Latest News from a Christian perspective
Whether it's a story about prayer in public schools, workplace restrictions on Christians or battles for biblical truth within our denominations, the American Family News Network (AFN) is here to tell you what the newsmakers are saying.

AFN is a Christian news service - with more than 1200 broadcast, print and online affiliates in 45 states and 11 foreign countries - that exists to present the day's stories from a biblical perspective. We not only feature the latest breaking stories from across the United States and around the world, but also news of the challenges facing Christians in today's society."
Did you bother to listen to the audio?

It was from the San Fran. Chronicle editorial board, hardly a right wing paper.

He said he will bankrupt coal and that energy prices would neccesarily skyrocket.

Now that you know that it is from a reputable? source do you have a different answer?

Actually McCain will commit $2 Billion a year to advancing Clean Coal Technology.

That sounds radically different from Obama's rant on Bankrupting the coal industry.

Obama sure can't hide from this coal discovery. What will the Dems claim, maybe it was an imposter on the tape?

He didn't say he'd bankrupt the coal industry. Palin (and probably Limbaugh) said that. Did you listen to the tape?

BTW: Obama plans to set aside $150 Billion for alternative energy, part of which is for clean coal.

I am not sure how much more clear we can get, even using his own words you obama nuts try to pass it off.

Again here is what he SAID-

"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted."

Audio: Obama Tells SF Chronicle He Will Bankrupt Coal Industry | NewsBusters.org

Listen again around 56 second mark.

"If someone wants to build a coal fired plant they can it's just that it will bankrupt them..."

Exactly right. To hell with them and their profits. It's way overdue that companies that are responsible and innovative get the initiatives needed to get this country out of the stone age energy policies. There will be many jobs created when solar and wind manufacturing is put in place. The other benefit is thatthese jobs will not be shipped overseas.

Sure he could. He used lawyers to get rid of his competition.

Then he says in a video:

"If anybody wants to build a coal powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they are gonna be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

He is also said he is for ocean drilling but only in the outer shelf [where there is less oil.]

I'm not sure what we are going to do about electricity if we don't have sources for it. At the moment, solar, geothermal, and wind are not nearly enough.

He is opposed to nuclear because he says we don't know what to do with the waste.

What in the world makes you think they wouldnt ship manufacturing jobs for solar and wind overseas? Its a heck of a lot easier to hire someone outside the country to make this equipment then to dig up coal here in the states..

But dont let facts interfear with your postings, you never have before.
