Actually, I have rebel flag waving friends who are voting Obama this year. Like was mentioned above, for some people the flag is a sign of pride and heritage- and these people aren't racist- they're just country folk.

However, racists from the south do tend to like the Confederate Flag and use it as their symbol.

The ignorance on this thread is quite comical. I heard a lecture on the Southern Culture yesterday on cable. It was a local college program. The average person who calls himself Southern makes more than $60,000 a year and belongs to the country club.

I doubt there will be many of these people voting for Obama.

What a joke - if he had said he was voting for McCain, you would have said, "typical hick with his confederate flag"....
Sad uneducated response. I am an Obama supporter and have never disrespected the confederate flag here or anywhere else.

Whenever you make broad generalizations about people, you immediately negate the validity of your argument.

Personally, I think the kid has guts. He is facing the same mindset that is dividing the country.

Have you ever stood up for your principles? Or maybe you agree with the "keep the white in the white house" and are merely pretending to vote for the "maverick" because you feel he is the best candidate whose stance on
the issues are parallel with your own? Did you support the republican party the last election?

I like country boys.
Maybe the confederate flag is more about heritage then it is about politics?

Nor have I and to judge us all by the behavior of a few is stereotyping of the same magnitude they seek to be critical of.

Love how the Confederate Flag Pickup truck guy is OK because hes voting for the cult leader over McGeezer. If it were the other way around he would be a stupid inbred hick.

You assume to know what the posters on this thread would say? Based on what? Based on other posters who happen to share the same political affiliation who have made comments about McCain supporters and Southern stereotypes?

Interesting. Isn't there a word for that?

Quite the contrary. A very educated response. Look at what the dems have been saying about the confederate flag flying individuals of our country. You will NEVER see me bad mouth someone for their choices, just as I would not tolerate being chastised for mine. I stand up for my principles always.

I never said there was anything wrong with what the boy did. He is exercising his freedom of expression.

Look back at MOST of the posts where people are talking about confederate flag flying southerners in favor of McCain. Then you will see how I came up with my "double standard" comment. It's the truth.
