I have to say that I am sick of the HATE from both sides of this past election. I honestly think that most, in this forum also, actually like hating the other side. It seems to be something that really makes them happy. Just look at the threads in here, for instance, threads about how some HATE Palin and some about how some HATE Obama. Get over it already people. The damn "election" is over now and Obama is going to be our President, whether we like it or not. Give him a chance and see what he does or doesn't do.
I saw this thing being posted all over the net by anti-Obama people and it really is dumb, if you ask me.
There are others that are against Palin, but so many of them are honestly disgusting so I decided to not post any of them because of the crassness and out and out disgustfulness of them.
I have watched it for the past 8 years - counters on blogs and facebook pages until the last day of the presidency, "Not MY President" bumper stickers, baby onesies that say "I'm already smarter than the President!" Apparently there is a market for this type of thing.
I did see a basic black oval with an "O NO!" in white that I might have to buy to give my Obama supporter friends should things go bad....

I found these two, thought it was pretty funny. But you bring up a valid point APJ, there is a long way to go to recover the country and unite the nation, though I did not vote for Obama or McCain, it was instrumental for America to have it's first African-Amercan president in order to take the first step of reconciliation and progress for a new generation in America. Though I assume it will be the same 'ol politics the next 4 years and there will be another "change" of administration in 2012, but 2008 is a stepping stone before we get there, in other words 2008 is a year of "hope", 2012 may be the year of "change". Both Buffet and Greenspan would explain that this downfall, (Buffet believes a hard crash, Greenspan a gental fall) will help America recover with more solid foundations in both its worldviews and economic policies in the future. I believe Buffet is more correct and that it will take a hard crash in order for our nation of "spending junkies" and "sharecroppers" to actually learn a lesson.

These bumper stickers are not unique to the past 8 years. I remember from 1972, when I was a very young adult, "Don't blame me, I voted for McGovern", and I've seen so many over the years I can't quote most of them.
Politics, like race and religion, is an emotionally-charged issue. Passionate disagreements are expected, especially during election years. Nothing new and this year has been especially so because people have been sick to death for the last 8 years of the policies of the worst man to reside in the oval office in history. His replacement represented a historical milestone, and promises to be the best in history.
Emotions run high. This is normal.
