Only because of the depth of your ignorance, which we are striving to correct. One thing that al-Qaeda believes, like most adherents to asymmetrical warfare, that they can absorb tremendous losses as a method to achieving their ultimate goals, and when you have a pool of 1.8 billion potential recruits for whom martyrdom is an acceptable path, you have to see that there is a certain justification to their logic.

As for Obama being a uniter, I at a loss to understand how one makes the rational leap that uniting one's allies, something that Bush was so adroit at doing the opposite, is the same as uniting with one's enemies. The point of the article, and Obama's reasoning, is that al Qaeda's strategy depends upon uniting the Islamic world against the US. But Obama's message and potential policies undermine al Qaeda's effort to demonstrate that the US is an enemy of Islam.

Very few in the Islamic world were unsympathetic to the US's attacks against the Taliban and al-Qaeda. Certainly the Muslim world, most of which offered its support in the wake of the attacks of 9/11, understands in the most basic terms the right of vengeance. There was little protest or world wide denunciation to the invasion of Afghanistan. It wasn't until Bush's "Axis of Evil" speech that the Muslim world began to perceive a different agenda than simple retribution for the terrorist attacks.

Unfortunately, Bush took al Qaeda's bait, hoping to sucker the US into a protracted guerilla war, the US under Bush, provided al Qaeda a propaganda tool beyond their wildest expectation when Bush chose to invade Iraq. Yes, we killed those new recruits in Iraq, which only spurred more to the cause.

I think they loved Bush - he brought many more over to their side, just as bin Laden predicted.

Figures that you would believe this.

What you said isn't accurate. What is accurate as you would believe such a lie.

How War Saved Bush From Enron Accountability

In the late summer of 2001 something very, very bad happened. Enron, Bush's biggest campaign donor, one of the biggest companies in the world and a criminal organization engaged in the process of robbing the state of California blind (with the active assistance of the Bush administration) was about to go bankrupt. This, despite the fact that Condie and Co. had been working like dogs all summer to broker a deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan to get Enron some real work, building a gas pipeline. Eeks! The Bush administration was pretty unpopular already. What was going to happen when Kenny Boy Lay went under, taking with him countless jobs, pensions and when all those California voters' cries of "We dun been robbed!" were proved correct?

And ENRON Begat IRAQ: How War Saved Bush From Enron Accountability - Democratic Underground

One of Bush's many reasons to fight his bogus "war on terror."

To Combat Obama, Al-Qaeda Hurls Insults - washingtonpost.com
The torrent of hateful words is part of what terrorism experts now believe is a deliberate, even desperate, propaganda campaign against a president who appears to have gotten under al-Qaeda's skin. The departure of George W. Bush deprived al-Qaeda of a polarizing American leader who reliably drove recruits and donations to the terrorist group.

The above is from the link

Spy Agencies Say Iraq War Worsens Terrorism Threat

A stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks.
