It's kind of cute, really.

Here are a couple of sites that may shed a bit of light. Note that the World Net Daily is represented as well as the Washington Post, and there are quotes from people who would have had first-hand knowledge of the time and place in question.

Call it whatever you wish, but now, how about you giving us some evidence that Mr. Bush was indeed where he was supposed to be when he was supposed to be there, and give us a reason to believe that he was not AWOL.

I think that would only be fitting and proper, don't you?

"In August 1972, Bush was suspended from flying because he failed to complete an annual medical exam. A month later, Bush requested to be assigned to a different unit in Alabama and was approved. Although he was required to attend periodic drills in Alabama, there is no official record in his file that he did. "

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A7372-2004Feb2?language=printer

"Pay records released in February show Bush wasn't paid for any drills between April 16, 1972 -- the last time he flew with his old unit in Houston -- and October 28 and 29 of that year, just before the conclusion of the Alabama senatorial campaign in which Bush was working. He was also paid for Nov. 11, 12, 13 & 14, shortly after election day. The pay records don't indicate where Bush was on those dates, but Bush has also produced a dental examination record showing he was at the Alabama base on January 6, 1973.

"So what's the answer? Was he AWOL or not? The truth is, we don't know for sure. But there's lots of evidence he was. And the White House can't produce any evidence he wasn't.

Americans deserve to know, and not just for political reasons. According to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, a person who is AWOL for more than 30 days is guilty of desertion, with a maximum punishment of death. There is no statute of limitations. "

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36977

"Bush says he's released all his records...if that's true, then has anyone seen:
  • Any pages from Bush's flight log
  • Records from the Flight Inquiry Board convened after Bush was suspended as a pilot
  • Any evidence of Bush's reclassification into another AFSC after suspension as a pilot
  • Any photos of George Bush in a military uniform after 1972
  • Anything at all from any Alabama unit with Bush's name on it
  • Any copies of form 44a from the Alabama National Guard certifying attendance
  • Air Force Form 142 (Aviation Service Audit Worksheet)
  • Anything proving service (not just receipt of pay) by Bush between May 1972 and May 1973?
(And what is it precisely that the blathering right-wing pundits seem to think is missing from
John Kerry's service records?)

Click here for a side-by-side comparison of publicly available military records of both GW Bush and John Kerry."

If any of you work for VA and have your pictures up already, feel free to sound off here. I'd be interested to know if this is just a coincidence. Meanwhile, I'll just sit here and stew in suspicion.
As of yesterday (Feb 4), the Audie Murphy VA Hosp here in San Antonio had no portrait of President Obama yet, but Bush's has already been removed from where it had been. The guy at the front desk said that it had not come in yet. I will keep you posted.

That's what I was thinking, it's only been a few wks, if someone want's to display "his" picture sooner, there are millions probably on the internet, "unofficial copy"...but gov't facilities normally wait for the official picture and VA is normally not "top" of the list, active duty chain of command and governors/mayors' offices would probably have them first...

Go check your Mayor's office....

I can send you a copy of the official photo, you can put it on a disk (govt can no longer use thumb drives), ask to see the director and ask that this problem be remedied ASAP.

The official copy was released in pixels at noon on inauguration day.

You can DM me. I can get it to you in an email.

No, it is our right to not hang photos of a socialist muslim.
Hummmmm? Is that what the USA is about now? If we have a president whom we don't like or agree with, we let people disrespect his office?

This is only the first step. Next thing you know, they're gonna want pictures of him in the back of your children's textbooks!

The photos of Obama should be in your children's history books, with every other president.

CrestViewdrive is best unread.

As of 26 January, the VA hossy in Indianapolis still had an empty frame for both the prez and vice prez pix with a note saying 'awaiting official photo' in them. Hubby has physical therapy today so I'll check while we're there.

I did note that my oldest daughter's school {3rd thru 5th grades} has the president's picture up. It's over-pixelized and not the best copy job in the entire world, but it's up.

Last I checked the Administrators of the VA hospital system still work for the Federal government and if they are provided with pictures they has better put them up or take a long walk to the unemployment line.

Default Pensacola VA Does Not Have Pres and VP's Picture Either

It has made me sick to my stomach to see the faces of a pair of drunken draft dodgers smarmily, sleasily staring down at me every time I have gone to the Pensacola Clinic. It has been an 8 year insult. Now that we have a President and Vice President we can respect and not be ashamed of, I'm sure some conservative fanatic in the picture hanging process is purposely delaying the display.
