You seem to not understand the job of POTUS. Some of this PR stuff is parat of the job description. The Camp David trips are usually for purposes of working. Do you think he shouldn't be able to spend a night out with his wife?

A more important question is... is a night out with his wife worth millions of dollars from tax payers? Especially at bad economic times... especially if he could do it after presidency without all the related costs... It only serves to make an image that our president's likes to be irresponsible... Bush was like that... Obama is starting to act like it...
If I remember correctly, the cost of Bush going DC to Crawford was @ $60,000 one way.

He could've have taken his wife to the local McDonalds and got her a Big Mac and supersize fries. Then taken her to the movie theater for a flick. All this could have been done at minimal cost to the US Taxpayer.

In the other thread, which I strongly recommend you read, since the same stuff is being said over and over, I said that even if he had done that, the security detail would have been about the same.
