Why make the argument that healthcare is a right? Its simple...

Because then if you are against it, you are against civil rights, and therefore a racist or bigot.
Its a simple minded defense used by simple minded people.

Why do so many people have animosity towards the rich? The folks of more modest means should respect the wealthy b/c, in many cases, wealthy people are their bosses and it's rich peoples' taxes that fund Government. It's also wealthy people that fund charities.

Most wealthy people had to work hard, make tough decisions, stay home and study/work when others partied. Most wealthy people deserve to be wealthy.

To say that "rich people pay all the taxes" is clearly untrue; the majority of posters here do not fall in the upper 2% of America's wealthiest yet pay their taxes yearly.
We should respect the wealthy? Ever heard of Mammon? Bernie Madoff and Paris Hilton have created very few jobs, and have certainly done nothing to make them worthy of anyone's respect.
Right..Paris and Nicky, the Kardashian daughters...they were working so hard and studying diligently to wear designer clothes and hit the red carpet at parties and award ceremonies.
And "honorable" people like Madoff, Ken Lay and their cronies "deserved" to be wealthy? Bilking thousands of people and leaving them broke is darn hard work!

Of course, high end earners do not, literally, pay all the taxes. This is off the cuff, but I think the top 1% pays around 40% of taxes and the top 10% close to 70%. What I mean is that wealthy people should be respected not maligned, in the sense that most of them had to earn their wealth. Wealthy people should not be overtaxed, as they already carry the vast majority of the tax burden and create many jobs. Even heirlooms as you mentioned (Hilton, etc) the money in their family was at one point earned and, presumably, in an honest way.

Yes, there are con men like Madoff, but most wealthy people are not scammers. Why not eliminate welfare then? Many people abuse it. Why not stop Medicare(aid)? There is abuse in those systems as well.

The general point is that there is so much resentment towards high end earners (a group to which I do not belong) on these forums. It's, IMO, unjustified. If someone is upset that they are not well off, they should try to work harder and make adjustment so they can join that group.

If you want 'fairness' in the tax code, why not tax everyone at the same flat rate regardless of income?

BS - Most "earned" their wealth by choosing the proper parents. The rest started high on the totem pole and slithered up a few more notches with their parents and their prep school connections. Very, very few became rich in their own lifetime by creating and marketing something useful in an honest manner.

We need to return to the tax scales of the 1930’s through the early 50’s.
