Do you pay the full premium on your dental insurance? If you are and you still like it....that's rare. If you don't and you had to, you probably wouldn't have the same opinion you have now. The problem is, if it's any good and pays a decent portion for any of the work you get done, then the premiums are very high. If you add up what you pay annually for dental insurance like that, you'll see that you could pay for some serious dental work with that much money.....every year......$1,200-1,800 per employee and $3,000-$4,500 for employee + family.

The healthcare plan I receive from my employer is very good. And is part of the reason that my employer can solicit and retain employees.

I don't spend thousands of dollars on fillings, check ups or GOUT.

I like my healthcare plan. My premiums are not high.

I suppose that if you choose to buy your own dental insurance ... that could cost the inidividual $1,200 a year.

Just brush your teeth.

I'm not even sure what your post is about Danno.

Oh yeah, you want dental care for free.

Many toothless people are in no danger of dying because of having no teeth.

The govt can't provide for everything .

What's my post about?.....I'm replying to PurpleLove08.....who had left a post about my reply to GregW's post.

How do you figure I want dental care for free? I'm explaining that dental insurance is not worth the cost. Insurance is meant to compensate you in the event of an unexpected lose that otherwise would be difficult or impossible for you to pay for. Since dental care is routine (if you take care of your teeth), insurance for it is not really worth getting when you compare the benefits (you may not even use) vs. the annual premium you pay for it. Even though the cost makes it more like pre-paid dental (that you may not use) rather than insurance, employers that provide it are doing so as an incentive.

In short, the government has no reason to offer everyone an incentive like an employer does to it's employees....if it provides dental care with UHC, then that portion will truly be a re-distribution of wealth.
