Obama referendum, no doubt about it. His approval rating is 37%.

And now it's still a safe seat for the Democrats.

Have the Dems lost a single one of these special elections in the past two years?

Yeah, they overwhelmingly voted for Hillary too. Don't like obama obviously.

That doesn't change the FACT that the dems have a 2-1 registration advantage.

This reaction from the Left is totally predictable, as I said on this very thread.

They tried to write the narrative that PA-12 was a "must win" for the GOP, or else the narrative for the fall would not pan out.

If the dem would have lost, the meme would have been, "no big deal, GOP should have won it".

If the dem wins, the meme is, "ohhhh, looky, GOP loses a GOP seat".

They aren't fooling anyone.

Is it? The seat is in play this November.

I do not think party registration matters that much. There are many states such as Louisiana, for example, where Democrats have massive party advantage, but do rather poorly in a fair amount of elections.

I think you have to take a holistic view to these kinds of elections. I do not think the election is a commentary on dems and republicans as a whole but rather what is going on in that particular district with those candidates. It seems this district has been trending more republican nationally but for local races it still appears to be democratic.

The district overwhelmingly voted for Hillary over obama in the primary. These are the bitter clingers obama referred to...and McCain carried it by 900 votes.

Murtha had the seat for 32 years the district has not elected a republican since the 30s.

This seat would have been gravy for the GOP, but there are many more that are up for grabs that are much more amenable to a GOP win.

Sounds like a self-made successful man, who is NOT a career Washington insider.

Ha, ha, a referendum on Obama. Yes, perhaps it is. Do you like your crow broiled or baked?

That is not correct...It had a republican congressman until the 1970s
