Compared to the lockstep of the other party ALL OF THE TIME, they at least can think.
Scott Brown?

What I saw on his website of the above was pro-2nd amendment, anti cap and trade and pro-life. Pennsylvania has a lot of pro-life Democrats. He's in favor of drilling for oil in Pennsylvania, not off-shore. PA does not have an ocean coastline.

Issues - Mark Critz for Congress (http://www.critzforcongress.com/section/issues - broken link)
Lets see:

1. Mark is committed to protecting the coal industry and the Western Pennsylvania jobs that go with it, and as energy prices continue to rise, believes that we must also have an immediate strategy that includes expanding domestic drilling.

Bzzzzzzzzzzz! 0bama opposes coal

2. Mark is pro-life and opposes taxpayer funding of abortion. In Congress, Mark will fight for policies that stand up for the sanctity of life.

Bzzzzzzzzzzz! 0bama is for abortion anytime, every time, for any reason.

3. Mark knows that families have to live within their means, and he thinks it’s time that Congress starts doing the same. That’s why he is committed to reducing the deficit and thinks Congress should start by tightening its own belt. Mark will fight to constrain government spending by working to eliminate wasteful programs, and as a first step, Mark supports reducing the salaries and office budgets for members of Congress by 5 percent next year.

Bzzzzzzzzzzz! 0bama is for "trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see"

4. Mark’s top priority in Congress will be fixing the economy and creating jobs. For too long, Wall Street and the big banks have been bailed out while hardworking Western Pennsylvanians continue to struggle and lose their jobs
.

Bzzzzzzzzz! 0bama is bailing out Fannie & Freddie for hundreds of billions, with a blank check, and no intentions of calling for restrictions of them or regulations to rein them in.

Not to mention Murtha was also pro-life and pro-gun.

This is actually a great post... countering platitudes with more platitudes. Numb vs. Numb.

Had Critz, and Murtha, not had those positions in that district-heavily Catholic (with a lot of Eastern Orthodox congregations as well as Roman Catholic, blue collar, middle of deer country (hunting is huge industry in PA, there are more hunting licenses sold in PA than there are soldiers in the Army) neither would have won.
For what it's worth my district's Delegate is as liberal on most of the issues mentioned to be a good Democrat as one can get yet she has a 100% rating from the NRA.

Obama and coal policy:

Clean coal? Obama funds research to capture carbon - Green House - USATODAY.com

In favor of clean coal, just like Critz.

Obama's Position on Abortion

"Partial birth" abortions can be restricted.

Barack Obama on Gun Control

Respects 2nd amendment
