I heard/read that he's pro-life, was vocal against Obamacare, was vocal against cap and trade, was vocal in favor of drilling for more oil. If this is true, why's he a democrat? Thanks

Yep. He didn't want anything to do with Obama or his agenda.

There are many democrats who are pro-life. But most support choice.

There are many democrats who wanted a different health care bill then the one that was settled on. But between a bill and no bill, there was only one choice.

There are some democrats who are against cap and trade and some for drilling the last bit of oil out of the ground without any alternative.

That's the good thing about the democrats - everybody doesn't have to think alike.

But he's literally against all of the major platforms that the Dems support. Against cap and trade, against bailouts, against Obamacare, pro life, pro 2nd amendment, pro drilling for oil. What makes him a dem?

Wrong. No bill is better than a bad bill. "Settling" for something that makes the problem worse just to claim you passed something is not a good thing.

And yet somehow they seem to vote in lockstep the VAST majority of the time. What counts is how they vote, what laws they pass (or try to pass), not what they claim to think.

Negotiation and compromise is how our government works. If you want a dictatorship, blame the founding fathers for not setting it up that way.

Compared to the lockstep of the other party ALL OF THE TIME, they (the dems) at least can think independently - and vote that way, if they wish.

Maybe the original poster should take a look at Mark Critz's website.

A fine feather in 0bama's cap, eh, to have a democrat win election after campaigning against everything 0bama has stood for? The people 0bama does campaign for always seem to lose. 0bama, the man with the "Minus Touch".
