I wonder if any artist and writers in India/Pakistan would be brave enough to remake the story with Juliet being muslim and Romeo being Hindu? Could such a story telling help to break down barriers?

doubt it.

education might.

I knew two scientists one from Pakistan (Muslim) and one from India (Hindu) married and did quite well and such here in the US.

But going back to family presented some problems.

Actually it's been done ... a very famous Indian film on that very topic. It takes place during the violence and riots that ensued when fanatic Hindus tore down an old Mosque than was built on a spot holy to Hindus.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of it. I saw it in London, but several years later I mentioned it when I was in India and everone knew the movie I was talking about.

I think you might be talking about the movie "Bombay." There is an original and a remake. The original is the best, IMO. I have a copy of both of them. I am quite fond of Hindi movies but not the ones that are all singing and dancing. I like things like "Mission: Kashmir" and "Dil Se."

Here is a link to the most recent one.

In the original, she was Muslim and he was Hindu. In the remake she is Hindu and he is Muslim.
Both are good movies. I just like the first one the best.
