Don't know if it would qualify as a "marathon" but I watched every single episode of the original Dark Shadows in about a month. I was unemployed and got three DVDs at a time. There were over a thousand episodes so I was watching a LOT. Some of it I'd have been happy to skip because of the weird story lines.

I did 7 hours of Game of Thrones too, but I regret it. I've watched entire marathons of The Real World from sun up to sun down before. Those were wasted days. I watch football from noon to 11 PM almost every Sunday during the regular season. I'm doing a lot of binge watching right now because I just got a Roku.

It was probably a Buffy back in the days of taped off the WB.

As I recall, I found out I had all these episodes of Buffy recorded when I came across the episode "Reptile Boy" and I just started watching and watching many, many hours. Maybe I watched 4, maybe 5, maybe 7 episodes. So that would have been back in 1997 or so.

As it was, I knew nothing about the show then and when I first saw the credits with SMG's name, my first thought, "Oh, the daughter of Bruce Geller." since that was the only Geller I had ever heard about. Of course, that was wrong on a few points.

Now, that does make an interesting question is that for a show I knew nothing about, that I wasn't aware that had recorded, then why was the VCR even programmed to record then....and I don't recall.

Mad Men was ending and I had started the long process of purging for a move (10 years worth of stuff had to be gone over with a fine tooth comb)

I pretty much watched every epi of my waking hours. Had not watched before. AMC played the whole series up until the series finale one week or weekend.

Good timing. I doubt I could have sat there that long otherwise.

I spent some weeknights and then at least one entire Saturday running through the first two seasons of House Of Cards. Just binge-watched Season 3 last month.

I watched all six seasons of Lost after it went off the air. Started in December, finished in February.

I think the worse is when I watched all 6 or is it 7 movies of Star Wars straight. Befire that I have had 3-7 maybe 8 hour bouts of just watching various animes.

About once every ten years, over a long rainy weekend, I'll watch all the "Alien" movies one right after the other.

Another one I watch about once every ten years is Lonesome Dove.

By the way, I couldn't tear myself away from Broadchurch - for those who have mentioned it.

Not positive but it's likely that it was either

Brideshead Revisited when my local PBS station ran the whole thing in one day or

The Wire when I bought the first season.
