I've never had to wait more than a couple of weeks for a movie on Netflix, but they must have not ordered enough copies of Game of Thrones because it is still listed as very long wait. Seems when something takes that long Netflix should order more copies to keep up with demand from the customers.

Game of Thrones is an HBO show. Who knows if HBO puts a strangle hold on Netflix in order to have more people buy the DVDs or subscribe to the network. Also, since a lot of people, especially Netflix subscribers, likely don't subscribe to HBO, you'll have a situation with more people trying to rent the DVDs via Netflix.

Studios and networks are definitely trying to slow down the success of Netflix by dragging out release dates and changing the terms so that the DVD you rent isn't the same as the one you buy or these services are limited to how many DVDs they can dispense.

It is definitely because it is an HBO show. I finally did get Too Big to Fail through Netflix, though, but it took months.

I usually don't have to wait too long, since a lot of the stuff in my queue isn't exactly the most popular. But on the other hand, that's the reason why I don't hang on to disks forever, even though Netflix says there's no due date. I know people who joke about having the same disk on their coffee table for two months, but if I'm not going to watch something within a week or two, I send it back. Someone else might be waiting on it.

Netflix might have some glitches, but Blockbuster became such a disaster that I stopped subscribing. If you like art films and foreign and classics, neither is as good as Facets.

If Netflix isn't coming through for you, check your local library. Most libraries have a fairly decent selection, checking stuff out is free, and they'll even let you place holds. I've had to wait for stuff on hold before, but never 3 1/2 months.

I've had Netflix for 6 years and never waited for a disc before.

I do see on my list titles that have "Short Wait" or "Long Wait" next to them which is fine - at least they tell me and in the meantime I can watch other titles. I used to be one of those who'd hang onto a movie for weeks without watching it but now I religiously watch one a week and send it back the next day. So it's NOT ME .

To be honest, I wait longer for items I have on hold at the library!

Confused. I don't subscribe to Netflix, but was considering it. I didn't know they are still mailing people actual DVDs??? Isn't it just all online now? Why would it take months to be able to watch a TV show or movie online?

I would guess the vast majority of the movies on Netflix are still disc only.

Even when something is online many times they lose the rights to do it and it goes back to disc only, especially with some of the TV shows.
