Netflix is separated into disk-only subscriptions and streaming-only subscriptions, and you can subscribe to both. If you don't want to mess with disks, then you just pay for streaming.

Thanks, that's what I'd read. I don't even understand why anyone would want to deal with mailing disks back & forth. I saw $7.99 per month for online, and the option of an additional $7.99 for the mailing option. I'd opt-out of that one!

I just get the discs mailed to me because I find it easy and convenient. I have a list of titles, they send me one a week, I watch it, I send it back, they send me another one. There's no inconvenience other than walking the 100ft to my mailbox and back. From what I understand they have way more choice in DVDs than streaming because of the rights issues.

From what I can tell I'd say only about a third of their selection is streaming, so if you don't have discs you won't have access to most of what they have.

Hughesnet... 'nuff said.

I'm seriously liking Facets much more than Netflix, except the turnaround is slower. The selections available are HUGE.

While Netflix does have streaming, their selection isn't nearly as good as their dvd selection. Many of the new movies don't come out in their streaming library for a long time, if ever, while the dvd selection usually comes out not long after the movie goes on the dvd market. If you only have streaming video, you are really limiting your selection. That's why I put up with it even though I also have streaming, but 3 1/2 months is ridiculous for the this particular show.

One of the reasons is Blu-ray discs have far superior picture and sound quality.

I've never dealt with it. When I mail a disc back, it gets there the next day and then I get my next disc the day after that. Even though it says long and short wait, I have always gotten the disc during that time frame.

I've been waiting three years for "Ice Cold in Alex" . It's a British war movie that is on Netflix's database, but I guess they don't have a disc to send me. It's listed as "saved discs" on my account.

Otherwise about 10 days for Quantum of Solace.
