I've come across a piece of advice at a few different places on the internet: Aspiring actors will eventually need to move to major market (New York, LA, others?), but it is wise to gain "experience" first. Some additional clarity and testament to this advice would be extremely helpful. Can anyone comment with some authority (e.g., first or second-hand experience, familiarity with the industry, etc.) as to:
1. Is this truly good advice in practice? Does this always make more sense than moving directly to a major market?
2. Are there particular types of roles I should be looking for? What kind of roles, and in what settings, are going to be viewed as credible so that I'm not wasting valuable time and energy if getting work in these major markets is the ultimate goal?
3. Are there any reputable resources I should consult regarding the general trajectory of new actors?
