According to Wikipedia: "Anime is hand-drawn and computer animation originating from Japan. In Japan and in Japanese, anime (a term derived from the English word animation) describes all animated works, regardless of style or origin.
The earliest commercial Japanese animations date to 1917. A characteristic art style emerged in the 1960s with the works of cartoonist Osamu Tezuka and spread in following decades, developing a large domestic audience. Anime is distributed theatrically, through television broadcasts, directly to home media, and over the Internet. In addition to original works, anime are often adaptations of Japanese comics (manga), light novels, or video games. It is classified into numerous genres targeting various broad and niche audiences."
My daughter begged me to watch anime with her. When I didn't enjoy a particular episode and decided I couldn't watch further, I explained to her why. Then she picked another series she thought was a better fit for me. She was right; I fell in love with it. If somebody were to ask me what type of music I like, I couldn't answer because I like songs across all genres. The same is true of films.

Here's an example of the style.
It's Haruhi Suzumiya!
I don't like her as a character, but I really like the way she's drawn. She's very beautiful!
I do even have a figure of her. I like Hikari Takanashi and Marin Kitagawa es well.
Many adults like it. I’m not getting the appeal.
I like anime because it's drawn beautifully. And I like the way they dress. I like high socks, too. But if the storyline is too stupid or rude, I can't watch it.
