I think in the day of network tv, kids watched more older movies because there were fewer options. Since cable, they tend to avoid them, even though there are more availible now than ever. I find many under 30 hit the remote as soon as they see dated clothes or cars. Also, they will not watch black and white movies, even new ones.
I also find it strange that people who say they love a type of movie, like horror, haven't seen any of the original classics.
There are exceptions, and those who like to explore past films will find many gems.
