btw, I was going to guess Jewish from the start, re: your 1st batch of photos, but "Jewish" is an ethnicity, not a nationality, so I didn't mention it. It was pretty obvious, though.

Well, as you said earlier, the noses, which are unlike any European nationalities. So it must have been an ethnic minority, and the most logical would be Jewish, since they didn't look like Roma, or any other known minority. But no, it wasn't "really obvious", it required some thought. They definitely looked "different". Jewish was kind of the default guess.
Germany, Austria, or Poland as they appear to be Jewish (jmo).
