Midsummer eve is like christmas eve, +11C and rain.
Luckily, we change from christmas tree to midsummer pole, so we can tell the difference.

Not directly soltice , but the "Fête de la Musique" has been chosen for the june 21th since the 80's. It consists in small more or less improvised concerts in the streets, pubs...with all kinds of music (jazz, hardrock, techno, world music ...).

The summer solstice celebration, Jaanipäev, is probably the biggest holiday of the year here. People flee cities to light bonfires, barbecue meat, drink alcohol (any holiday is reason enough), enjoy white nights, swimming in lakes and rivers, and sauna. Lots of drunk drivers every year though, this time police is exercising shock arrest for any violations during holidays and rightly so.

Yes, we all gather in Stonehenge, where we wear druid robes decorated with swastikas and burn some Mexicans.
