Does anyone here know a school/discipline in Europe that does not include as much time in school? Say 4 years and you are a full blown doctor or even a specialist or is she dreaming?
She says in Africa you can do what is called ""A LEVELS"" which she says is high school then if you do well you can go straight to med school no under grad in between. Anyone know where you can do this or similar in Europe?

'A' Levels or General Certificate of Education Advanced Level are generally an English Qualification and yes if you get top A grades in at least three related science subjects you will be considred for medical school in the UK and may be selected for an interview, however a medical degree is normally at least 5 years in the UK and not 4.
However in order to practice medicine in the US, you have to hold a medical doctorate MD and not just a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) and the MD qualification requires a further 3 years study.
There is a four year course in medicine in the UK for those with a relevant First or 2.1 Science Degree, but this involves three or even four years study at University to start in order to gain the intial degree and then a further four years at Medical School.
In terms of training after qualification in the UK, you work your up the system and take exams throughout your medical career in order to progress in to a specialist area, the initial medical school course is merely a grounding in medical science.
In terms of Nursing, a three year degree course is the usual route in most countries and is recognised in most countries.
