They start officially the dates Italian said but in the last years some changes have been felt, last June was not very hot and October is usually hot (which is Autumn)
Some people were on the beach during Christmas holidays 2 weeks ago.
Winter starts dec the 21st
Spring march the 21st
Summer june the 21st
and Fall sept the 23rd

Why do you say that?
Your definition (astronomical) is the one that is used in North America by the public as well as by meteorologists but I am not comfortable with it and I suspected that it would be different in Europe. I know that meteorologists there go with the 1st of the month definitions, and the poll suggests the public does as well...
