There's one unique region:" Trentino-Alto Adige" which has two autonomous provinces, them being "Trento" and "Bolzano".
Suedtirol/Alto-Adige isn't separated from Trentino in the term of region and it's a German speaking region with a sizable Italian minority (60% Germans, 30% Italians, 10% Ladini)

Yes, every region of Italy has good food and wine, but each region has its specialties.

Yes, Sicily, or parts of it, probably outrivals Puglia in every respect listed above, but some people may appreciate Puglia's relative subtlety, let's put it that way.
was going to post this, I found Puglia gorgeous when I visited. And the coastline is spectacular in the southern parts.

Sicily is quite different IMO, but it's great nonetheless. I just see Sicily as a very intense place with a very specific culture. It almost feels like a different country.

Puglia seems more laid-back to me.

Scenario 1
Aosta Valley
Piedmont
Lombardy
Trentino Alto Adige
Veneto
Friuli Venezia Giulia
Liguria
Emilia Romagna
Tuscany
Umbria
Marche
Lazio

Scenario 2
Abruzzo
Molise
Campania

These are the parts of Italy I favour the most in my view because most make me feel quite at home.

This could be due to some Balkan, Roman, Celtic/Gaulish and Germanic influences which remind me of the countries I favour the most too.

It is also fairly Central European and even quite Western looking on the hole.

As for the rest of the regions in Italy are nice but a bit too Southern for my likenings.

Agreed; Sardinia is criminally underrated.

I voted for Tuscany though, since it's quintessential Italy.

Haven't been to Sicily yet. I really need to...

Lazio, Campania, Basilicata, Reggio di Calabria, and Sicilia.

I love southern Italy and I'm not even Italian (well, I am about 2% Italian according to a DNA test, so that must be it, lol).

There's a town in Sicily that I really, really like. Its Taormina.

there is also an english name for südtirol/alto adige: south tyrol ;-)

i just came home from a hiking tour today and enjoyed a great view to the beautiful glaciers of the zillertaler alps towards north (even thoug it's shocking how the permafrost areas are getting less and less..) and the dolomites towards south. I'm out in the mountains as often as possible. So for me this is my number one region.
My number two is tuscany: very unique landscape combined with beautiful old towns and gentle people.
