There are so many non-Norwegian nordics on this forum who Write glorius stories about Scandinavias history. But Norways glorius past ended when the last viking died.

- After the viking age. Norway and Denmark together in union, union is called Denmark-Norway. So far so good, but things are about to change. The Danish king prick gives away former Norwegian land to Scotland WTF! And later on another Danish mofo makes alliance with Napoleon. Now the Norwegians have had enough. Its bad enough that danes sound like aliens from another planet when they speak, but when the danes also make war plans that involves Norwegians its enough. When Norwegian soldiers are sent out to die and when Napoleons enemy, "the coalitions" tries to starve out Norwegians in Norway then Norwegians began to make plans to end the union.
- Napoleon lost the war, and Norway are ready to make a divorce from Denmark. But the coalitions have other plans. They take Greenland and Iceland away from Norway and gives it to Denmark, and they also want to force Norway into a union With Sweden. Norwegians refuse to go into a union With Sweden and declare war against Sweden. Offcorse the outstarved and war-tired Norwegians lost the war, and a New union waited for Norway.
- Norwegians have had it With superior fascist Swedes and in 1905 Norwegians declare war against Sweden and its ally Germany. There were no war and finally Norway could be a independent nation.
- It only last for 35 year. Nazis With help from swedes invades Norway in 1940. The war last for 5 years and half of Norway are in ruins afterwards.

Norway and the troublesome unions.. No wonder we voted no to joining the European Union in two referendums. Northern Norway had more than 70% no both in 1972 and 1994. Sending power out of the country instigates anger many places.
But give credit to Sweden for taking Norwegian refugees during WWII. These were tense years also for Sweden. It's easy to look back 70 years and condemn certain aspects of what countries did, but there is always more sides to a story than one. War time is complex. We had a good number of rotten eggs also in our own country.

Norway's history are a little more complex than USA's history.
Take Denmark for example. They like the world to see them as Explorers. They are not. They are fat and lazy and have never explored anything. They never explored for example Greenland, it was given to them.
