In the event that your hotel charges an exorbitant price for breakfast (which most of them do) walk out and find a local bar or 'boulangerie' (bakers) which does coffee and croissants. It will be cheaper and authentically Parisien.
Thanks for all the tips. Unfortunately, my wife decided to do some last minute home redecoration, which caused us to miss our flight - traffic was absolutely insane going through NYC - people were getting out of town ahead of the snowstorm, and there were multiple accidents. (normally, a 2 hour drive took 6 hours, and we got there a few minutes after they closed the gate.) So, we were delayed 2 days getting to Paris, so only had a day and a half in the city instead of 3 1/2 days. Loved what I saw, though. Despite the reputation for arrogance, the people were extremely friendly (except for one taxi driver...) and we had no problems getting around at all or finding people who spoke at least a bit of English.
So, we ended up going into NYC for a day and seeing Wicked on Broadway, and then making sure we got to the airport 3-4 hours ahead of time the next day.
We saw a few highlights of the Louvre, went up the Eiffel Tower and then took a Walking Tour the next day that was very informative, as well as a river cruise that first night. Unfortunately, there was not time to do more. Definitely want to go back in the future.
