I think countries with strict gun ownership policies probably have them for a reason, ha.
According to the map below, you can see that low rates of gun ownership do not necessarily preclude high murder rates.

Further, while the U.S. has a high murder rate compared to western Europe, despite their high rate of gun ownership, they have a relatively low murder rate on the world scale.

Please note that the only reason Greenland is colored that red is because it lives so few people there. 1 or 2 murders is enough for them to have a statistically very high murder rate.

11-12 murders a year, and that's a lot for a country of 57k people. Andorra had just one murder in 2012. Greenland must be a very depressing place, if 1 of 4 people tries to commit suicide at some point of their lives.
