Which country is better to live in and why (thinking more along the lines of Stockholm and Amsterdam)?

Well, let's see:

They both have lots of blonds both populations are fairly reserved, I think the routine medical care is more accessible in Amsterdam if you'd need to see a doctor fairly promptly. Stockholm is farther north, so--more darkness in winter than Amsterdam. Amsterdam is more centrally-located, so better for traveling to see the rest of Europe. Holland will be in bigger trouble when the sea levels start rising, though. How long are you planning to stay?

Amsterdam is more rainy, stockholm has lower average temperatures. Dutch are more friendly and outgoing compared to the Swedes. You can easily start a conversation with a stranger in NL but not so much in Sweden. Sweden has nicer nature and Netherlands more order within the cities and even countryside, but Sweden is orderly enough too. I have been to both countries multiple times and they are both my favorites.

Northern Sweden is much better than both Stockholm and Amsterdam.
