When I was there 20 years ago, a single slice of pizza in a nice restaurant cost $20. My friend who was there temporarily said that's the only kind of restaurant dinner that's affordable. I didn't see if there were more informal pizza places, or anything like that.
I'm not sure what level of salary qualifies for a subsidy. I know that my son makes too much. Most people who commute using public transport by an annual ticket which works out quite a lot cheaper.

$20 for a slice of pizza? You got ripped off. Just 10 days ago, I had lunch in Da Paolo - which is considered to be one of the best pizza restaurants in Geneva - and my pizza cost $20. But, yes, eating out is expensive.

Well, it wasn't a pizza restaurant. It was some kind of high-end restaurant with more general fare (I didn't look at the menu, I just took my friend's recommendation). So yes, when I read comments like these, I wonder why my friend liked that restaurant. There must have been more affordable choices. Odd.

Thank you for your info, though.
