Hadn't heard of those here in the US, but it sounds interesting. Here, McCafe is coffee. You can purchase the Keurig 'pods' in grocery stores. That's what I do.
I saw it in Munich (Germany) but I am going to look if there are also in Spain as I didn't notice yet.
Well I didn't see it in NYC. I doubt America has it.
Wiki isn't really a good source but it says there's one in Chicago at least, can someone tell if there is one there, please ? I'll look up for the rest later...
In Italy is not free, you pay 0.10€ for each small package.
I wanted to answer but i really didn't know since i have never set foot in a McDonald. Most restaurants and pizzerias usually don't charge for kechup or mayonnaise, at least here in Southern Italy

McDonald or any other chain, even local ones, is more expensive than pizza here. I'm surprised when i hear that Americans don't enjoy Napoli's pizza, it may be because they are accostumed to another taste but ever since i went to Napoli and tasted some of their pizzas, i'm spoiled and i just can't eat whatever they call pizza here.
I've never seen a Starbucks, McCafe or any other foreign coffee chain here, Italian just won't drink foreign coffee, even if they tried opening they would go out of business soon. The only way i can see them surviving is probably due to free wifi.

The pic you posted looks quite similar to a bar in the autogrill (Italian motorway service areas)

Odd, usually chains tend to be on the cheap end here, they're not fine dining. Plenty of Americans do; at least there are independent pizzerias that claim to be Neapolitan style and are a bit more expensive and sell it as "fancier pizza". Of course, they're probably not authentic but still closer to Napoli pizza. I ate here in Seattle, they claim to be Napoli style, they don't cut slices.

In continental Europe, from what I've seen coffee is some type of espresso drink. American coffee is usually drip coffee though you can get espresso drinks, too.
I think its a Europe only place because I've never seen one here in the US. Its basically a starbucks inside a McDonalds. Lots of them in the more popular parts of Europe.
McCafe started in Australia, but yeah, they're everywhere now.

They are all over America. There are 2 in my immediate area. However, I did not see one until I moved to Florida in 2011. They are a nevwer phenomenon. It's in newer McDonalds, not old ones. You won't see as many in older cities as there MCD's are older. They all sell the McCafe drinks though.
It is exactly as someone else posted. They are trying to compete with Starbucks.
Edited again.. Forget what I said, LOL. I just realized they are stand alone stores. We have just a few of those, but many McDonalds now have McCafe starbucks like coffee bars inside of them.
It's not working though. I swear that I read someowehere yesterday that McDonalds was closing a ton of stored in the USA now

McDonadls is cheaper, they have menus for 3 euros and less. They target teenagers that don't have much to spare. They also have offers and coupons.
exactly. i live in a place frequented by all kinds of tourists. one night out walking a young couple asks me where are the restaurants. there a lot of them just around the corner out of sight - Chinese, Indonesian, Italian, French and so on. so i ask them, what would you like to better guide them. they say McDonalds.
