I agree with you that French cities are not as provincial as many people say, decentralization was very important for these cities.

EDIT : I wrote you something but I'm too scared now, I'm going to be insulted again, don't mind me, like some other have said...

BTW we're now off-topic.

As if all Americans lived in Paris or Dijon, incredible. I've met many Americans in Colliure, Cadaques, Arlés, Grasse, a lot in Nice, Aix, some do wine in farms in la Borgoña....concluding, cozy places. There are also many Americans that own gîtes rurals, restaurants, a lot of artists.

Those Americans live in cozy places, in many cases their parents and grandparents bought properties a long time ago. Married to locals? Most are married with girls or men from many countries as they are well travelled people, many artists!!!

I didn't intend to insult you. It's just you can be overly defensive with other people's opinions.

EDIT (again) : you don't understand but it's okay, no one does anyway, sorry if you thought that I was "overly defensive", we just don't function the same way I guess and that's all. I only attract mean people I think, must be an "easy prey" or I don't know. I won't post on here anymore so please don't bother with me.

Also, next time you have a conversation with someone like me, just try to be a little more considerate -- words are not just words for some people and behind those usernames, there's real people with feelings, I'm sure you don't like to make people with disabilities cry... well I hope

And also too -- sorry for the BIG off-topic!

Is there some sort of a stigma towards going for an American guy in France or something?

Also, just my experience or are French women just a lot more open to going for guys of minority groups (black, brown, asian) than their Anglo sisters?
IDK, OP. Living here in the US, I know just as many American male--French female couples as the other way around. Maybe you shouldn't make broad generalizations based on your own limited experience.
