I was just wondering what state is Paris and the rest of Europe in after the attacks? Is it safe to travel to Paris and the rest of the continent ?

I was just in Paris. I guess it's safe, but it seemed to be much worse in general than the last time I was there about 5 years ago. I saw a lot of Syrians begging, Arab and African looking bums, garbage all over the street, etc. around porte de clingancourt, i believe. not an area i would walk around at night. the area i stayed in near gare du nord wasn't particularly nice either...

I would say that Paris is a city that has seen better days

I was also in Istanbul and probably felt safer there. I left a few days before the suicide attack...

It is not so that Europe is a hellhole like Iraq or Syria but there are regions I would avoid. Which towns/ countries are you interested to visit?

Such attacks can happen everywhere in the world. All big cities are potential targets, included in the US. Do not forget there have been attacks in LA recently too.

Nah, best not to go anywhere in Europe these days... too dangerous. I suggest a vacation to St. Louis, Detroit, Oakland or Memphis instead.

Gare du nord area is not the greatest that's for sure, Gare du nord is close to "la goutte d'or" which is the parisian equivalent to Harlem, but the first 9 arrondissements and Montmartres are very safe, and tourists don't have to go check what porte de clingancourt looks like anyways, it's the same for all cities, Manhattan south of 96th is safe for the most part, but some parts of Harlem and the Bronx not so much.

Is it safe to study at Virginia Tech? If your reasoning says 'yes', you'll have the answer to this question too.
