The biggest problem is the outsourcing of jobs to poorer countries, leaving a growing working class in Western Europe with fewer options. Everybody isn't cut for university and healthy countries must be able to offer jobs with decent salaries for people without college degrees as well. At the same time third World migrants come here in large scale where the jobs matching their qualifications are disappearing. The social problems will increase as the gap between rich and poor gets bigger. I fear the West has peaked, to be honest.

The mark of a good country is, after territorial integrity and legality, creating meaningful economic opportunities for ambitious young people, including those who have a comparative advantage in working with their hands, at all levels of technology.
In that context, some measure of protectionism is good policy (but not the sort of protectionism that simply coddles teat suckers until they die off).
The OP listed "major issues facing Europe" are non issues at best. Issues facing Europe are:
1) Refugees and particularly the influx of Muslim immigrants who have no desire to fit in and want to change Europe into the hell holes they are running from.
2) Keeping on good terms with the world super powers...USA, Russia, & China and the potential threats they could present in a tense situation.
3) Maintaining good relations with Middle Eastern countries for oil and trade.
4) Maintaining and improving their competitiveness in the world markets.
5) Aging population that have promises of benefits that will fall on fewer and fewer workers to provide.
6) Keeping the EU together with competing national interests varying between Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, etc.
None of them actually, it's just lack of cohesion and excessive nationalism from certain governments followed by an ever aging population that needs to be replaced, the low fertility rate in most countries, integration of immigrants in our societies, ecc.
Governments should shut up and try to listen to the EU and work together for once. This migrant crisis has revealed that we are unable to cooperate. Since we're bound to stay together, let's try to do it well.
none of the poll options. Tall Traveller describet it perfectly IMO
