Riots erupted on the Greek border with Macedonia on Monday, as angry refugees broke down a razor-wire fence separating the two countries with a battering ram after the Macedonian authorities sealed the frontier to prevent them from passing.

The conflict surged as the Greek government warned that tens of thousands of people could be trapped in the country within a month, adding to fears that it would be turned into a giant holding center for migrants, and as aid groups cautioned that a humanitarian crisis was growing.

Greece has requested emergency aid from the European Union to help it deal with the crisis, which shows little sign of abating, and on Sunday, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany said that Greece could not be allowed to succumb to that threat.

Central Europe is trying to Control their immigration policies in a orderly fashion. These economic migrants(mostly men) continue to result to violence when they don't get their way.

Is this just the beginning of worst to come, if greece keeps ferrying them in?

I would be quite angry too if I was sealed in in awful conditions in wintry Northern Greece and being subjected to tear gas. So close, but so far.

Maybe they saw this and though this was how Europeans show hospitality, and wanted to reciprocate.

This is one of the problems we had highlighted when Austria, Macedonia, Hungary, Serbia all closed their borders. They are basically putting more pressure on an economically disastered country such as Greece and will increase the influence of radical parties such as the Communists (these ones aren't only in name) and Neo Nazis (Goldenn Dawn) who already have 15% of support between the two of them.

I am pretty sure Germans are sick of having to Change their lifestyle, and become minorities in their own country because of these economic migrants...I don't see anything wrong with it.

Now storming a country's border demanding that you open it with violence is a different story.

80% of these people are economic migrants. They were safe in Turkey. They chose to pay thousands of dollars to smugglers to get them to Greece. Hence the word, they are economic migrants.

Why should a country welcome you if you are doing this to get in?

So how did that deal work out, where Germany was going to pay Turkey to settle the migrants? Looks like the migrants didn't agree to the the cozy deal the governments worked out on their behalf.
