Eiffel Tower/River cruise: If you take the metro to the station Bir-Hakeim, you can just walk (about 10 minutes) to the Eiffel Tower, and the docks are directly across the street (you can't miss them). You go down some stairs to get to the cruise docks, and there's a ticket building and usually several tour companies whose boats will be waiting for tourists to line up to board.

Not sure what your abbreviation means for "L(Rive Droite)". What is the "L"?

It is suburbain train services from Gare Saint Lazare (Transilien L).

I don't understand the transfer for the RER A because metro line 3 goes to Saint-Lazare where you can take the L to Versailles.
M3 to Saint Lazare and L to Versailles Rive Droite. It's less complicated than having two transfers.
Trains to Versailles Rive Droite always depart from platforms 1 to 4 at Saint-Lazare railway terminal (just watch the destination on the screen).

To go at the Eiffel tower, you could take line 9, exit at Trocadero and then walk to the Eiffel tower (with a nice view over it).
Most of time, it will be faster than waiting a bus.

It's the L line of the Transilien network.

Edit: Minato ku beat me to it!

What cruise company do you intend to use? The famous Bateaux Mouches are next to the Alma-Marceau station on line 9, so there would be no need to take the bus. Also, if it's just to visit the Eiffel tower, I'd just get off the metro at Trocadero and walk to the Eiffel tower from there. The view over the Eiffel tower from the Trocadero palace is deemed by most as quite scenic.

I agree about the trocadero approach to the Eiffel Tower. I forget how old your kids are, though, and if it'd be too much for like a 4 year old.

Thank you all for the help suggestions, really appreciated!

I am using this to pre plan: RATP, transports à Paris et en Ile-de-France : bus, métro, tramway, RER

Or is there a better suggestion?

So work with me. What's the best way to get Versailles from Galliene?

Is the L a train or a metro?

Out on the road right now so WIFI limited..

Let me know!!

L are suburban trains. (There isn't any metro line going to Versailles).
Those trains depart from the platform of Saint Lazare train station. (Trains to Versailles depart from platforms 1 to 4, look at the destination on the screen because there is also trains going to other suburbs departing from there).

Aight, so I think I have it..

M3 Galliene to Saint Lazure

Then at Saint Lazure I buy tickets for the L Train

I get off at the Versailles Rive-Droiught stop

I walk to Versailles palace..

1. How much is the tickets for L train?

2. That walk seems kinda killer, aka 25mins with babies in a stroller..

But hey we're up to about 25miles a day now according to my steps counter, aka 50,000+ steps P/day..

Should be a cakewalk!!

You can directly buy tickets at Galleni metro station (ask for Versailles Rive Droite, I highlighted Rive Droite because you need to specify that you want to go there, to not have ticket to an other station in Versailles). Ticket will work for both metro and suburban train.
Ticket from Galleni to Versailles Rive Droite costs €4.35

From Versailles Rive Droite, there are buses going closer to the castle.
You can use the bus with average metro ticket, metro ticket works for all bus in Paris metropolitan region (except few express lines).
