It means that you should have an European card, so the account at an European bank ?
It's true that with an European bank account, you can withdraw, transfer money from one European country to another one without fees, but all US banks charge you fees, even the transfer from one US bank to another one US bank in USA !!!!!

Nope, I live in the U.S. and only have American banking accounts.

If you PM me, I tell you the banks/cards I use. None charge fees for foreign transactions. Not for credit card, debit card, or for cash withdrawals.

These days, just take your bank ATM/Debit card, and use it. The exchange rate and international fees are far lower that the cost of exchanging cash at the exchange booths, AND it is a lot safer than toting around a pocketful of US Cash that you have to exchange for local currency.

The OP needs to find a new bank when they get home.

I usually change a few dollars at the airport because the exchange rate sucks!

And then wait until I go downtown and change my dollars for euros at a bank!

I exchanged mine at some Bank in the Left Bank based on China.....forgot the name.
