I first learned that Czech is located on the borders of Germany,Austria, and Poland in about the 8th grade (age 14). I was reading about WWII (on my own not in the dreaded education system of ours ) when I found out about Hitlers occupation of first Austria and then Czech before invading Poland.

I sure am familiar where it is You just have to remember, there are a lot of countries in Europe that are small and close together, so for people on a different continent it can be hard to remember all of them. And it has been my experience, that the #1 thing American schools lack are good Geography classes.
I have been to Prague: one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and also beautiful people. Now, where I get mixed-up are all the "Stans" that became independent after USSR broke apart.
Wow, you talk to one person who doesn't know where the Czech Republic is and you question our entire Countries school systems? Kind of like one of us talking to the dumb kid from the school you went to and when they don't know anything about South Dakota, then the entire Czech schools must be inadequate. Most of the people I know, know where the Czech Republic is. May not be able to say much about the country, but they know where it is.
Yes, I have been to Prague. It is very over-rated. There!!!! Now I will generalize!
You have graffiti everywhere; even on your houses of worship. The only part of Prague that was clean was near the upscale hotels where thankfully, I was staying.
Don't you know that in the states, World Geography class is taught by the football coach who doesn't know anything about World Geography either?
