You will have to look into it, but I believe that you have to choose between Israeli/Austrian or Israeli/American citizenship.

If your grandfather was Austrian until his death, you're Austrian.
Visit your nearest Austrian consulate.
You'll need Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, etc, etc.
Austria is EEC.

I think you have your names mixed up, I have no Austrian background at all. I commented only on the OP's mention of Irish heritage and never mentioned anything about my own.

A citizenship of any E.U country enables you to freely live and work in any E.U. country.

My son obtained dual citizenship (german/american). He had to do it before his 24th B'day. He needed parents' marriage license & copy of current passport of the german born parent. All notarized.

I know for dual Swedish and American citizens, all one has to do is move to Sweden, register with the tax authority that you are in Sweden, then you will have "free" healthcare and "free" university education. So, those that have opportunities to be a dual U.S. and EU citizen, it would make sense to have both as there is really no downsides that I can think of except the fees for application and renewable.
