I'm looking to purchase a weight bench, and the one I'm interested in does not flatten completely. Does anybody reading this use one of this type? Thoughts?

Anything in particular that you want to know?

If it doesn't flatten completely, then you won't be able to do flat bench pressing or declines, you'd be stuck with incline bench press (and military presses and such if it can be adjusted to sit more upright).

So then, this bench isn't particularly weird or cheap in that it doesn't completely flatten?

Ive never seen a weight bench that doesnt completely flatten. Do you have a pic or link somewhere where we can see it? What is the name brand? Where did you find it?

Yup, pic or link would be nice. There are plenty out there that don't go parallel to the floor, and it's up to you based on the exercises that you plan to do with it, but I'm not really sure myself why you wouldn't just go find another one that does flatten so you can do regular bench pressing.

It's more typical to see weight bench's for home use that don't decline past parallel.

It's a Weider 130.

This one?
Amazon.com: Weider Weight Bench - 130: Sports & Outdoors

I am not familiar with it, but the description says it goes flat.

I don't like the weight capacity on that bench, by the way. 300 lbs isn't enough. Have you considered checking Craigs list and other classifieds in your area? You might find an old heavy duty one on the cheap.

Get yourself a heavy duty one so you can do step-up arm/shoulder combos with it, and so you can jump on it too. (If you are a guy, I'll admit I don't see many men doing that sort of thing, probably because they aren't so leg-obsessed the way I often am.

If you read the first review on the amazon link the person says that even though it says it goes flat, the design isn't made in such a way that when it goes "flat" you're parallel to the ground. When it goes flat it seems you'd be more in a decline position.

Definitely not a worthwhile bench if you have any intentions of doing flat bench presses.

Does that thing even come with a rack for a barbell? Seems like you'd have to buy it separately unless you plan to do free weight dumbbell presses.

I just want it for dumbbells and sit-ups. I guess it's good for that.

I'm above 300 lbs when im doing inclined dumbbellpresses, and im not even that strong. let's say i put 90% of my bodyweight into the bench, that'll be about 180 lbs, and then 70 lbs barbells in each hand which is less than my typical training weight...thats 320 lbs, I would seriously not want the bench to break beneath me with those barbells above myself.
