For my own work-out clothes regular detergent works fine (All Free and Clear). I sweat but I don't stink the way the men in this family do.

My husband and boys play organized sports and it seems like I can never get the odor and stains out of their equipment/uniforms.

What do you use or suggest I use that would be great for stain and odor removal and still safe on pads/gear?

I use Gain detergent and fabric softener. I sweat a lot for a woman and it works well for me. I'm not sure how it would work on pads but it's gentle enough for my bras.

All Free & Clear (my husband is allergic to anything else), and color-safe bleach from time to time. That helps kill the smellies.

I use the same but have you tried Secret's clinical strength? It's the only deoderant that works for me I sweat a lot too.

I haven't tried that. I was using Certain Dry. You're supposed to use it every other day or so but I always ended up putting on regular deordorant on top of it.

I tried to use a natural deordorant. Needless to say that didn't work out as well as I hoped.

I sometimes use Clorox2 for color clothing. Seems to work fine for regular and front loader machines.

Put some baking soda in your washing machine along with your usual scent-free detergent and it will help remove smell.

Arm & Hammer does make their own unscented detergent that includes baking soda, but I don't think it cleans dirt as well though it does get out the smell. I use Tide Free and add baking soda.
