I went to a trainer the other week and he recommended foam rolling. It seems helpful, but dude, mit is like a workout in its own. Particularly for someone with a weak upper body and tight IT bands like me.
So do you roll? What do you focus on? How do you find it?
Helps me get the knots out. I typically do it after a workout when I am warm. My IT band was tight too, took a while for it to loosen up but it will.
I usually focus on whatever part of my body I worked on that day. I do a fair amt of running and cycling so do my legs a lot. My roller has sharp ridges in it for extra pain/benefits.
I dont foam roll, but do various stretches throughout the day, especially my IT Bands; I do a lot of endurance running and it can get tight if i dont properly stretch them after long runs.
My legs get really tight and the foam roller just wasn't cutting it. Went down to Home Depot and got some 4" wide PVC pipe, really does the trick on the back of my legs. Also bought a massage stick, hits a couple of spots that a foam roller can't hit. Plus when I'm traveling it fits inside of my suitcase.
