Product: Bodytech (Vitamin Shoppe store brand) Micellar Casein Protein (Rich Chocolate flavor)

Price: $58.99 online

Product use: Slower digesting protein/meal replacement

Overview:

Anyone who has been around here for awhile knows that I speak glowingly of Optimum Nutrition's Casein Protein, especially for dieters who are looking for a way to up protein intake while keeping calories low. Many use whey protein for this purpose, but whey's quick digestion tends to leave one feeling hungry, thus casein is a better option in this context.

I stumbled upon Vitamin Shoppe's buy one get one half off sale, and it just so happened that my supply of ON casein was about depleted, and so I decided to go ahead and try a new product.

Positives: Good taste, very close in fact to the ON casein (which I think is delicious). If ON chocolate supreme casein's taste was a 10, this is a solid 9 and not really far behind. The price for a 4lb tub is within a few dollars of the ON casein if you buy the ON online, so it's a very solid value. On a somewhat superficial note, the blue tinted clear jug is exceedingly cool.

Negatives: Like any casein I've used, it doesn't mix well in a blender bottle. You really need an actual blender to get the proper consistency.
