I ask because I hear people treat advice coming from people like Arnold like some kind of gospel. People point at him and say "look how big he is, he must know what he's doing", but isn't size mostly just genetic? Obviously people must have a decent understanding of how to work out properly but is there really such a thing as advanced bodybuilding training? If somebody doesn't have the genes to get large then surely they won't no matter how they work out? I can't help but wonder if people like Arnold are no smarter than anyone else and merely got the way there were because of genes and drugs. Obviously there are lots of different ways to work out but are the pro's like Arnold really doing things that much differently that everyone else?

Sure genetics plays a part. And I doubt there are huge differences in serious programs. It's probably mostly a function of time put in, adherence to the plan/nutrition, and the like.

Yes, just like everybody isn't Michael Jordan. Doesn't mean no one else plays in the NBA, though.

To be the best of the best, you have to have great physical gifts along with incredible drive and determination.

Almost all pro bodybuilders have good genetics, as well as, ahem, "supplements".

You're never going to look like Arnold, or Lou, or Ronnie Coleman. Do you really want to?
