At 94, Harriette Thompson becomes the oldest woman to run a half-marathon. The petite lady in the red lipstick, undeterred by her latest cancer treatments, was back on the starting line Sunday in the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon.Jun 4, 2017

Maybe, but it's still really impressive for someone her age to do what she does.

Both Ernestine and Sister Madonna didn't start serious exercising until later in life and I think that has something to do with their ability to do it until much later. I started running as a teenager and at 56, I'm pretty much done with that. It tends to be very painful and I think I've just worn out my joints. If someone starts later, they may not have the wear-and-tear on their joints. Sort of like a car that's been kept in a garage and not driven very much. And of course, genetics do play a big role.

Having said that, I'm super excited about a trip my husband and I are planning for this summer--a rim-to-rim hike in the Grand Canyon. I've gotten lazy in my workouts but am now going to have to ramp them up. I know it's a cliche, but I feel like I have a new lease on life. Rather than thinking of myself as too old to do much, I'm focused on getting ready for this trip. Lots of stair-master and steep inclines on the treadmill in my future and I couldn't be happier about it.

So I agree that generally, age is just a number and that most of us can get stronger and better if we decide to do so.

I'm one of those "later in life" fitness folks. Never too late, I say. I do think that I can get stronger and better, and I have. I've been feeling like a beast lately and push myself because I actually like it. At 60? who knows?

Age is not just a number..........your skeleton loses quality, your organs slowly degenerate and lose function, you start looking like a cast-member of TWD, and as a topper, they put you into the ground.

Be a realist on this issue, it will make aging easier.

LMAO~ We are a bundle of sunshine....

As your body ages, you can expect gradual changes, at your body's own pace. A healthy lifestyle may slow many of these normal effects of aging. I feel great and still very active. I'm a mother to 3, 28,31,32 and a frist time granny and loving it! I still have all my body parts, I take no medications my blood work, BP, etc are all great and according to my doctor I'm in better health than most 20's . I run 5 days a week and do lightweights I'm still mobile and I consume an all organic diet. This is working for me, I realize I'm not 20's- but I'm doing great for my age rang!
