I joined a friendly weight loss wager with friends. I been doing good so far, I dropped 6 pounds. Then I remembered people I personally knew who would cut weight for their sporting events. So I googled, how to cut weight, and basically to cut weight, you cut out salt 3 weeks prior to weigh in. I also read that Ronda Rousey, lost a large amount of weight, in one day, by spending 5 hours in the sauna.

I'm hoping to hear more strategies on how I can lose the most weight before my final weigh in date, which is in a few months.

Uh, it's up to you. To me it's just cheating but that's your decision.

Normal high school wrestling means of dehydration. Garbage bags and running, garbage bags and a stationary bike. Sauna suit if you wanted to be fancy. Usually back fired but quick way to lose 5-10 pounds. Plus it's not like you'd be wrestling afterwords so the dehydration wouldn't matter for your athletic performance.

I dont think it is cheating, because doing any of the things mentioned, requires a form of dedication.

You cut salt, maybe restrict carbs..basically anything that can retain water. Couple that with anything that promotes expenditure of water (i.e. saunas/steam rooms). I don't do sporting events, but for vanity reasons every now and then I'd do a steam session to drop a few.

As I said, it's up to you whether you think losing 5-10 pounds of water weight is the same as losing 5-10 pounds of body fat.

My son's teammate had to lose 12 pounds in 18 hours. He drank a ton of water, ate nothing, put on plastic garbage bags and went running for hours. Several hours before weigh in he stopped drinking water and took a diuretic so he would pee out all the water. Then he ran some more to sweat out the rest of the water. He even cut his hair, wore really light clothing. I am not sure what else, but he made it. Seconds after weighing in he ate two hamburgers and drank a half gallon of water, then he took a nap.

Biggest secret: eat less!
Very affordable and simple.

Cutting weight.
My son was a wrestler in high school and was religious about the whole weight cutting thing. Run in the garbage bag. Ride the stationary bike in a 100 degree room. Spit in the toilet every time he passed one. He never failed to make weight but there were times he got so dehydrated his urine looked like ice tea.

He now suffers from kidney stones and is the only one on either side of my family to have ever gotten them. I won't say that what he put himself through was the trigger but in retrospect, I don't think cutting weight like he did was such a good idea.
