I'm a big fan of spinach for the past few years. Smoothies mainly. Then a few weeks ago I get a kideny stone and read that spinach increases the risk. Boo. Taking a break from the spinach.
I've read spinach is one of the most common ways to get food poisoning. I always buy the triple washed, but I don't know if that is helpful or not, or just a gimmick.

Ironically enough, I just got food poisoning this week but unsure what was the culprit. Could have been spinach or more likely a salad I ate while out.

Ask your doctor next time you go in for a checkup. Your general health makes a difference. My kidney specialist had me stop eating it totally, but a healthy younger person could possibly tolerate a lot more. Unfortunately I love the stuff.

I won't ask an MD nor General Doctor.
They aren't trained in this.
I can use various sources and do additional checks in themcheers to you and your kydne specialist. He/she would know.
Me too, but I have gotten sick from it a few times. Does anyone know if the spinach labeled "tripled washed" protects you or is that just a marketing ploy?
On the other hand, it’s high in vitamin K. Too much vitamin K can have serious side effects, such as arterial calcification in people with high blood pressure, and can make kidney problems worse.
Interesting. It's really bad for iguanas because of the effects it has on their skeletal structure. Calcium depletion
or something.
