Hey, sorry if this is a repeat post, but I am wondering if anyone here has tried spinning? if so, did it help you to lose weight?
I'm not a runner, and the elliptical is so boring!! I wanted to try spinning but not crazy about the nazi-type classes I see on tv or at times at the gym.
any thoughts? does it get you in shape pretty quickly?
thanks!

I believe Karla with a K is an avid Spinner. I've tried it once but it wimped out after a while.

thanks, maybe I'll DM her. I don't blame you, it looks pretty hard, I've never done it, but it seems like it would tone the **** out your lower body!!

I love spinning. I haven't been in awhile, but it is great for losing weight. The instructor is key, if you don't have a good instructor, it gets boring. I was in the best shape when I was spinning four times a week.

I got sportsfangal DM and replied
I lost 10 #s and 1 size spinning 3 x's a week in a little more than a month
it was a great experience we "rode" in the dark with just those rope lights.
I didn't experience the "nazi" type of instructors
The best advise to to go observe a class to see how the instructor is
You always have the option during class to just pedal if it gets to a part that you find too hard while your building up to it .
You are also the only one in control of how much tension you chose to add

Remember to take a big bottle of water and a gel seat

The only reason I stopped is the ownership of the gym changed and all of a sudden kids were allowed to use the equipment
I got tired of waiting

Spinning/cycling/RPM/etc is a great way to get your heart rate up, burn calories, and tone your legs. I'm a Reebok Certified Cycling instructor; I had people from all walks of life in my classes that were able to see results over time.

I always told newbies to give it three tries before determining whether you love it or hate it.

Good luck!

Spinning is a great way to burn calories. I used to take a spinning class at gym I belonged to before I moved. The instructor said in a 45 minute class you can lose up to 700 calories and I believe it! It's not an easy class, because it is definitely a work out. I agree with others on here. Go to a class and observe or take it slow to see if you like it.
