I'm in the market for some decent running clothes. Right now, unfortunately, I'm just wearing a cotton T-shirt & an old pair of shorts I have. I see a lot of women when I run that wear some kind of tank top & shorts.
Since I run a lot, I may be willing to put in a little extra $ for some good clothes so to avoid just getting a cheap tank & some shorts.
So what do you other women out there wear who are runners? What brands & where do you get them? Store, online? I'd like shorts that don't ride up & a tank that supports while still being comfortable.
I really do love the modern, wicking, non-cotton fabrics (e.g. Coolmax).
Favorite brands include Hind and Craft. I notice a lot of my training partners like Pearl Izumi.
Online I use Sierra Trading Post, REI (and REI outlet), and Road Runner Sports.
Locally, I check the TJ Maxx "activewear" rack about once a month. I've found a few pieces at Target (although I think they are over-priced for what you get, so I look for "clearance" items) and Old Navy.
I put most of my workout budget into my shoes and gym membership, but do have a few fun workout shirts. Mostly synthetic T-shirts in bright (OK ... loud ... LOL) colors to make me more visible on the road.
Another catalog/online source is Campmor. Nice stuff at discounts; check out the "Super Special Deals" section.
Okay, Im a guy, but I love to run in CW/X gear. I have turned several of my female friends on to this as well and they (as do I) swear that it is the best gear (tights, compression shirts, wicking, etc.) to run in.
They have what they call "support web" technology where different material is sewn into the tights to provide muscle support that will increase your performance. My best 5k times have all come when I run in CW/X tights.
I used to not care what I wore when I went running, because I wasn't trying to look good for anyone. But then I got some of those moisture-wicking shirts (mine are Nike, but I imagine all brands would be pretty much the same) and it has made a huge difference. I don't get nearly as hot, and I think I look a little cuter. Yeah, I'm still not trying to look good for anyone, but if I think I look cute, I'm more confident and I have better runs. I also wear some of those lightweight pants/shorts (I don't know what they're called but they cut off right above the knee) and those are pretty nice.
Thanks, everyone. Yeah, mjohnson, I'm not trying to look cute for anyone, either, I just want to be comfortable! And in the summer, especially, the less material you wear, the better. I have better runs when I'm not running some cotton T-shirt that will just wear me down.
Thanks for all the different suggestions. I've never heard of any of these, but I will check them out. Does everyone buy their stuff online???
There is a Nike outlet here. To make it better, they have 40% off everything already at a reduced rate each weekend. I have no idea what the fabric is....I just try to pick nice outfits that I can also play golf in. I don't really jog seriously, I just walk fast with attitude!

Then you would really like the CW/X products. They are not a "fashion" workout attire company but are a "performance" and "comfort" based company. Check out these two vids.
If I'm at the gym, I wear my low-rise dri-fit shorts (I have several, but all fit low-slung, simply because it's more comfortable to me), with a Moving Comfort sports bra, and a racer-back tank. If it's an evening run in cool weather, I wear running tights. Outside, warm weather, I have a couple pair of board shorts that I always wear (mainly because of the pockets) with a sports bra.
