Hello all,
As promised here are more pics, including the ones from Chena Hot Springs.

I drove out there on sunday and it was really windy there. Everyone I talked to said the wind was abnormal, but it made he -15F or so seem so much colder. After taking the ice musuem tour, I paid my 10.00 and went swimming.

Wow, that first step out the door was a doozy In only my bathing suit, the wind was cold. I stopped in the first outdoor hot tub to warm up and talk with the others. After about 5 mintues or so I looked like an old man with ice all over my hair. It was pretty funny.

I finally got up the courage to take the walk down the path to the main hot springs. It was awesome. To be in that hot of water while the temp above is in the -15F range. When the mist/fog from the water ws just right, you could not see 10 feet in front of you. The water was really hot and I could not make it all the way to the end where the water comes out. Others said the water was unusually hot that day.

without further delay, here they are:

On the way out there, the "fog" is actually the wind blowing the snow around.

appletinis in the ice hotel! Yay! Friends of mine got married there... lovely wedding. They served appletinis at the ice bar.

Somehow, you don't notice the alcohol in the cold till rather late in the game. The water in the rock lake is ridiculous sometimes, coming up from the hot bowels of the earth, steaming into the freezing air...

This is what the father of the bride's wallet is for.

I'm so glad you're having a good time poking around the area. Warms the heart.

Honestly, I am having a blast. This place is so different than home I am trying to do as much as my work schedule will allow. I have never been anywhere where the temp changes almost 90 degrees in a couple of days....
It was 41F above zero on the east side and the snow/ice was melting. Cant wait to see how the morning drive will be.

I bet it's dripping off the eaves at your house tonight, Rance....

It's warm here.....

Did you see any lights? Was it clear?

You are at work, right?

It really is awesome. So much so that I'm going back this weekend with some other folks. I am going to take more pics and since it should be much warmer, it will be easier to explore it more....
