I wish my husband would wear his shorts. I bought him some really nice ones with some polo shirts. He just wears his heavy jeans even in the extreme Texas summers.
I usually wear shorts when it's not terribly cold outside (usually 45° and up). I just feel like I can move around more comfortably than when I wear jeans.
I have a photo of DH standing in front of his parents' home in upstate NY in December with snow on the ground - wearing shorts and a wool sport coat. He wears shorts around the house twelve months out of the year. To him the ideal temperature is about 62 degrees. Anything higher than that is "hot". Of course, that leads to thermostat battles.
Not me. I don't understand why anyone wearing shorts would annoy someone else, just by wearing shorts, no matter what the weather is.
There can certainly be an aesthetic factor; I might privately think that a given person (male or female) would look better if they wore something else, but that isn't universal and doesn't seem to be your issue.
Hot and cold are relative. Here in Colorado it's not unusual for people (mainly male) to wear shorts even when it's not warm out. Some guys legs don't get cold - shorts and a sweatshirt/jacket and they're good. Why would it bother me?
Do you get equally annoyed with people wearing more/heavier clothing than you deem necessary?
I wonder why so many people find it necessary to try to censor what men wear when it has bearing on their lives.
Women have it a lot worse in terms of being judged based on clothing attire.
